Meet Tierra

Tierra Ledet is a licensed psychological associate with independent practice (LPA-IP) and the Owner of Pure Joy Psychological Services, a private practice based in Houston and Port Arthur, TX. Additionally, she owns the mental health education company, Mentalli. 

Tierra received her Master’s of Education from Vanderbilt University, specializing in clinical psychological assessment. Her private practice focuses on assessment, diagnosis, and providing supportive social skills groups and psychotherapy to diverse individuals in advocating and helping them cope and manage their mental wellbeing. 

Tierra’s areas of expertise include diagnostic assessment across the life span, reproductive and women’s mental health associated with perinatal grief and loss, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and working with BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals who may present with generalized anxiety and mood disorders. She also enjoys helping clients who may be struggling, would like to identify their life purpose, and help them build a life worth living according to their values and desires. 

Her therapeutic approach is collaborative and eclectic, frequently using various parts of different approaches to help individuals meet their goals. She frequently uses interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, dialectical, and acceptance and commitment approaches. 

Tierra has published peer-reviewed research as part of an interdisciplinary team during her time at Vanderbilt University. She is often consulted by media, organizations, and other medical professionals to offer expertise on mental health issues. Prior to starting her private practice, she worked in clinical psychiatry research, mental health technology, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, and outpatient neurology clinics and research with neurodegenerative disease patients and families. 

She is certified in perinatal mental health by Postpartum Support International (PSI) and a former recipient of the PSI Perinatal Action Fund Scholarship and the Seleni Black Perinatal Mental Health Training Scholarship in partnership with Kate Spade New York.
